Power restored in Allen’s Nek, Weltevreden Park and Randpark Ridge

“Even though we were working against the rain for two days, we managed to push to ensure we kept to the time of restoration."

On Friday, March 18 City Power confirmed through a media statement that power had been restored in most areas that were affected by the fire at the JG Strydom switching substation.

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said the teams worked day and night since the fire had broken out on Wednesday, March 16 to ensure power was restored in Allen’s Nek, Weltevreden Park and Randpark Ridge.

“Even though we were working against the rain for two days, we managed to push to ensure we kept to the time of restoration. By this morning over 90% of the affected areas were restored and only the Bergkaree Avenue distributor is off as it is faulty, and will be attended to this morning. We really apologise for the inconvenience these outages have caused to our customers,” said Mangena.
