Explosion at Christiaan de Wet substation

Technicians have been dispatched after an explosion at the Christiaan de Wet substation. The explosion occurred on February 21 around 10:30 and the cause is still being investigated.

In a statement, Halima Nosipho from City Power said, “Based on the reports we received, we suspect that a transformer might have blown up.” Nosipho said the outcome of the investigation would be revealed in due course.

Areas that are affected by the outage include:

• Ruimsig
• Honeydew Manor
• Wilgeheuwel
• Weltevreden Park
• Radiokop
• Strubens Valley and surrounding areas
