Woman who lost her brother in 2016 Wilgerood accident still seeking closure

Jacqueline Geyser is praying that a witness is still out there to assist

When a tragedy cuts too deep, time may not heal all wounds.

On a Friday evening back in January 2016, Jacqueline Geyser had her life altered forever. Travelling with her brother, they were involved in a three-vehicle collision that would claim Francois Malan’s life and leave Jacqueline severely injured. With the six-year anniversary of the incident just past, she is still hopeful that someone may have some information that will help get her the justice she feels her family deserves.

Now 59-years-old and living in Cape Town, Jacqueline has suffered constant medical problems related to that January evening. “Compared to myself prior to the accident is like day and night. Most days I’m in bed with a headache. I have balance, speech, communication, vision and memory problems as well distorted sleeping patterns. Add this to many doctor’s visits and high medical expenses,” claimed Jacqueline.

The accident occurred at roughly 19:00 on January 15 at the corner of Wilgerood and CR Swart Roads, and involved a silver Audi TT, a white Toyota Camry and the white Toyota Corolla Jacqueline and Francois were travelling in. The tormented survivor has many questions on the procedures authorities followed in their investigations of the incident and even after the family had sought private legal and investigative assistance, the case reached a dead end because there were no witness reports.

However, Jacqueline believes there are witnesses and she is begging them to speak up. “During all of this time we have been very patient, living in faith and prayer for transparency. A very sincere thank you to all who assisted with this unfortunate event, but to those who witnessed and know the true facts, please come forward,” she pleaded.

Should anyone have any information on the incident, they are asked to please contact Roodepoort Police as soon as possible.
