Alchemy Cycling makes massive donation to safe haven for women in need

Over R50 000 raised for centre that provides a life-giving alternative to abortion

Reaffirming their commitment to the cause, Alchemy Cycling handed over a giant cheque to their favourite humanitarian on December 11.

Rae Bagus and Lil Choices were the recipients of a hefty donation that will ensure the non-profit organisation may continue their invaluable work. Lil Choices offers a home for young mothers who refuse abortions, as well as a place of sanctuary for abused women.

Being sure to get in a Saturday morning cycle first, the 40-strong pack would complete an over 100km route before rehydrating at Lil Choices headquarters. Once the whole pack had made their way through the gates, Rae took the group on a tour of the facilities.

“This is to show you all where your support to our cause goes. Thank you so very much for choosing Lil Choices and the work we do,” said Rae.

Thereafter boerewors rolls were served and Rae rolled out the red carpet for the cheque handover. Alchemy Cycling Chairman, Imran Abbass handed over an amount of R51 400, which the club had raised on their annual cycle ride to the coast. In October, 23 Alchemy Cycling members supported by four Combis made the trip from Johannesburg to Durban, all in aid of charity.

The club has always donated the proceeds of their annual ride to charity and for the past few years have latched on to the work done by Rae Bagus and her Lil Choices team. Rae and Imran are looking forward to a continued partnership, with Rae saying, “Thank you so much to everyone associated with Alchemy Cycling. Every contribution you make goes a long way to improving a young woman’s life.”
