Muldersdrift residents go days without water and electricity

For more than a week, residents in Muldersdrift have been without electricity and water.

For more than a week, residents in Muldersdrift have been without electricity and water after an Eskom transformer was vandalised.

Karin Donald, who runs a kitten rescue shelter in Nooitgedacht said managing a business under those circumstances has become near impossible. “I have to drive to Bryanston every day to work at my mom’s house. We can’t keep the kittens warm at night, and washing litter boxes is a mission,” she shared. “Somebody vandalised one the poles while trying to steal the transformer. Eskom came and took the transformer down and we have been sitting without power for more than a week. Now we have no water because the pumps don’t work.”

Donald certainly shares the frustration of many residents in the area who have had to borrow or buy litres of water to get them to the next day. Unfortunately there has been no communication from the power utility and calls for comment have gone unanswered.
