Female drag racer shares her love for speed

The 31-year-old has already displayed some class in the sport as she was twice runner up in the National Drag Racing Championships.

It was not that long ago that female drag racers were a bit of an oddity and if you saw women at the dragstrips, they were more than likely in the grandstands holding hands with their spouse or playing the role of a football cheerleader. Loumari Fivaz from Wilro Park, started riding a bike when she was eight years old and has never stopped on pursuing her love for speed and drag racing.

The 31-year-old has already displayed some class in the sport as she was twice runner up in the National Drag Racing Championships. When asked where she sees herself in four years, Loumari revealed that she has not yet planned so far ahead. “Hopefully I’m still healthy and blessed enough to still do the sport I love,” said Loumari.

Her word of advice to the youth who would like to take up the sport of drag racing is to start as young as possible and never give up on what you want to achieve no matter how badly one gets disappointed in life. When asked to comment on 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, Loumari shared her opinion and highlighted the need for men to start respect women, “I don’t think it should only be for 16 days, males should respect all females, being  abusive towards a female mentally or physically doesn’t prove that you’re a man, it proves way more when you treat every lady with respect”.
