Where’s Witpoortjie’s power?

The four load centres are still affected and will remain off until the fault is located and repaired.

Over the weekend of December 4 and 5 various sections in Witpoortjie experienced irregular power outages, resulting in some sections being without power for up to three days.

Tuesday, December 7, officially marked the fourth day that the area has been left in the dark regarding their electricity supply. “Repairs were completed in the early hours of this morning Tuesday, December 7.

However, upon restoration it tripped again on what we suspect to be a further fault,” City Power’s Tebogo Sehlako said. Technicians later managed to restore the power.

Ward Councillor, René Benjamin later made use of this opportunity to encourage all residents to firstly log the call with City Power. “Even if the whole of Witpoortjie is down – the more people who log it, the easier it is for City Power to see, acknowledge and attend to the issue. They will also be able to determine how big of outage it is based on residents logging calls,” she explained.

It is also important for residents to know that ward councillors can no longer log such calls since City Power now requires the resident’s account number and meter number. René soon released the preferred format in which residents can report their issues.

Residents can log calls as follows:

– By visiting www.citypower.mobi

– Downloading the My City Power App for Fee on Playstore

– Contacting the City call centre on 011 375-5555
