Laerskool Generaal De La Rey ends year with colour-filled blowout

They hosted a fun day at the sports fields adjacent to Hoërskool Die Burger

From a blank canvas, colour promotes unity and togetherness.

Laerskool Generaal De La Rey held a fun day at their sports grounds on November 27. The day began with a colour run, that popular act of turning a white T-shirt into a colourful mosaic of shared humanity. After throwing the paint powder, children had their pick of several giant inflatable slides, go-karts, water balloons and sweets stalls before rain interrupted play just before midday.

“We as staff felt that we needed to do something special to end off the year. We have had almost two years of not being able to have any functions. We wanted to do something that could unite our community and school. We have been so detached from each other and unable to just connect with each other. We wanted to have an event that could create an opportunity to connect and have fun,” said Principal Rochelle Hank.

Dellies has a rich history, something Principal Hank is eager to build on. She noted, “We want the community to know that we want to create and grow our school where we develop caring, respectful and supportive children who strive for excellence in whatever they do; understanding that they have a part to play in shaping our community and country because they are our future.”
