“We hosted a Volunteer Appreciation day to say thank you for their time and dedication."

Volunteering can provide a healthy boost to a person’s self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. By doing good to others, one finds a natural sense of accomplishment while the role of volunteering can give one a sense of pride and identity.

On Thursday, November 25 The EARTH Centre based in Ruimsig hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Day at their facilities to celebrate their incredibly generous volunteers.

According to the organisers the day was dedicated to the volunteers who have been crucial to The EARTH Centre fulfilling their mission of providing therapy to disadvantaged disabled children.

“We hosted the Volunteer Appreciation day to say thank you for their time and dedication.

“Those volunteers who lead horses during the lessons spent some time doing fun activities with the horses and playing games while leading, allowing them to get to know each other and the horses on a different level,” said one of the organisers, Nicole Ras.

The EARTH Centre side walkers were treated to an exciting sensory stimulation activity including playing with the toys riders use and walking the sensory trail.

Instructor Adrian van Biljon took charge of the sensory stimulation activity while Operations Manager Natalie Stobaus and the herd covered some practical horsemanship skills applied through fun games and challenges.
