Dowry Security sends out tribute for friendly and trustworthy colleague

Dowry Security assisting with funeral arrangements for fallen colleague

The private uniforms that dot our streets, malls and businesses often become more than a badge, but a friend.

For those who work behind the badge it becomes something akin to a brotherhood. Dowry Security are mourning the passing of a much-loved colleague who passed of natural causes after a short illness, November 15. Security guard Vincent Manyonda was a 60-year-old Harare-born man who had been with Dowry since 2016.

Vincent worked as a patrol officer at Princess Crossing Shopping Centre before being deployed in the Johannesburg CBD. Thereafter, he gained his glowing reputation from 2018 when he was deployed in Constantia Kloof where he could be seen patrolling the streets using a bicycle. “He was a guy you proudly expect to see in your rear-view mirror as you reverse out of your home,” said Dowry HR Manager, Patrick Khumalo.

Vincent leaves behind a wife and eight children, some of whom live in Soweto while other live back in Zimbabwe. “We miss his kind heart and humbleness towards people. As Dowry staff we miss you, our brother. You died with your boots on and dedicated to your work to the last day. You have taught us a lot through your hard work,” added Patrick.

Vincent’s wife was in Zimbabwe when informed of his hospitalisation, but he sadly passed before she arrived. Dowry is assisting with funeral arrangements and additional support for the family, and anyone who wishes to assist may contact Patrick at Dowry Security. “Any help will sustain the wife and kids while they are adjusting to the new life without him,” said Patrick.
