Two people killed in Marina Street crash

The collision was between a bakkie and a kombi transporting school children.

Two midddle aged male drivers have been killed in a car crash on Marina Street on October 27.

According to emergency response, six school children have been left fighting for their lives following a head-on collision on Marina Street in the Nooitgedacht area of Johannesburg.

Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene and found absolute carnage. A light utility vehicle and a school bus had collided at high impact. The drivers of both vehicles were declared dead on arrival.

According to Kyle van Reenen from Emer-G-med, six school kids were found to be in a critical condition after their school transported collided with a bakkie.

“Advanced life support paramedics worked fervently to stabilize them and the assistance of the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter was called for back to back flights, airlifting two of the most critical to a specialist facility for immediate definitive care. The remaining four were transported rapidly by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further care.”

According to eye witnesses, the bakkie swerved to avoid another vehicle when it collided with a school Kombi.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area.
