Meet the CHANGE Ward 128 candidate, Nomthandazo Iris Moore

She is running for Ward 128 which includes the greater Tshepisong and Ebumnandini

Nomthandazo Iris Moore, CHANGE local government elections candidate councillor for Ward 128, recently answered questions regarding the upcoming elections.

Q: What would you do differently to the current ward councillor?
A: CHANGE is a political party that is people-orientated. As a councillor candidate, my plan of action starts by teaming up with the community so that together we can bring the CHANGE we desire to see. I am not planning on running solo in dealing with issues within our ward, but rather to be in partnership with all the residents in developing and growing our community.

Q: How have you been involved in the community?
A: Making sure I help the individuals with power cut-offs.

Q: What past experiences make you uniquely qualified for this role?
A: I have worked closely with David Edwin Masina who was a young vibrant leader here in Tshepisong. He was a youth leader in Florida and a chairperson of Ward 127 and a CSO of the DA in Florida. Consistently working with him gave me experience and he imparted knowledge on how to work with the community at large.

Q: What is your vision for your ward?
A: To make our ward alive with possibilities and opportunities by bringing resources closer to the people, ensuring that all issues relating to municipal services are attended to, and ensuring the safety of our community. Promote growth for community leaders and influencers such as entrepreneurs, sports coaches and community religious leaders by giving them the support they need even with raising funds where applicable.

Q: How do you feel this vision can be achieved?
A: As a ward councillor I want to partner with businesses, voluntary associations and NGOs that can assist in uplifting the unemployed residents through mentorships, learnerships, apprenticeships and courses. We also will hold SOEs that provide service to the community accountable for their failure to deliver, with constant updates to the community. As CHANGE we will ensure that funds that are meant for the ward are being used for the intended purposes, therefore ensuring a clean and safe environment for all.

Q: In 50 words or less, tell the residents of your ward why they should vote for you.
A: Our mandate is to bring CHANGE in South Africa one community at a time, as South Africans deserve better. My pledge is not only to work for the community but to serve in order to make this ward a better place that is alive with opportunities and possibilities.
