Tied up and shot at

The robbers forced the woman to the living room where she was tied up. Shots were fired when her husband arrived home.

A couple in Muldersdrift survived a harrowing armed robbery on August 14 during which they were tied up and shot at.

At around 21:30 the woman was woken up by a suspicious noise in her house. She initially thought it was her husband but was shocked to find intruders in her home.

Sergeant Mulalo Ndou, Muldersdrift Police communications officer said the four thugs, armed with a firearm and a crowbar, gained entry to the property. “They took the woman to the living and tied her hands with an electrical cord.”

The intruders were interrupted by the victim’s husband. “When he entered the house two shots were fired at him but they hit the wall. He did no sustain any injuries,” Ndou explained.

The four robbers allegedly made off with a TV, laptop and jewellery . Arrests have yet to be made but the police are investigating the matter.
