More Zandspruit mob justice suspects appear in court

The matter was then postponed to the following day with the reason being an issue of logistics in transporting the 14 suspects who are being held at different prisons.

The number of accused in the Zandspruit mob justice murder case has increased to 14 people who appeared briefly in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 18 and again on Thursday, August 19.

The Magistrate expressed her frustration when only one of the people accused of playing a role in the Zandspruit mob justice incident made it to court for a bail hearing on Wednesday, August 18.

The matter was then postponed to the following day with the reason being an issue with transporting the 14 suspects who are being held at different prisons.

Tebogo Mabula, Mziwamangware Witbooi, Njabulo Zwane, Phakisa Tsengiwe, Maxwell Mpofu, Klaas Masemola, Joshua Mabotze, Alfred Mollo, Everyone Moyo, Phillimon Seemela, Douglas Tshuma, Charles Ramoshia, Phiwe Khubeka and Peter Mufomadi have all been accused of playing a role in the Zandspruit incident.

Due to the accused not being brought to court on some occasions the Magistrate proposed the dates August 25, 27 and 30 and indicated that special arrangements would be made.

All 14 suspects are to remain in custody while accused number 12 will be kept at the police station.
