A man, accused of raping a six-year-old, was arrested on Saturday, August 14.
The man, confirmed by police to be the caretaker at a church, is said to have lured the child onto the church premises where he then is alleged to have committed the act. The incident was reported at roughly 14:00 and police spokesperson, Captain Kay Makhubela claims an arrest was carried out quickly.
The captain was unable to state exactly which church the incident occurred at, but confirmed the case is being investigated by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences specialised unit. The suspect was due to appear in the Roodepoort Magistates’ Court on Monday August 16.
