Muldersdrift community apprehends suspects

Community members in Muldersdrift caught and arrested two suspects linked to armed robberies in Muldersdrift.

On July 30, community members in Muldersdrift apprehended two people suspected of robbing them. One of the suspects was brutally beaten and taken to hospital, and the other was handed over to Muldersdrift Police.

According to the Muldersdrift CPF, the community found the suspects at their home in Honeydew after a shooting incident on July 29. “The suspects are currently still in custody. I am not sure if the second one has been discharged from hospital,” Muldersdrift CPF chairperson, Charles Mbewe said. “The community requested that we help them get assistance from the police to arrest an additional three suspects that were still on the loose. We got in touch with the police and they agreed to provide back-up.”

Mbewe said they were working with the police and residents to catch the other three suspects. They were allegedly using a Toyota Condor, which the police had seized.

“We are still working with the community and encourage them to go to the police with any information that can assist the police’s case against the arrested,” Mbewe said.

Muldersdrift Police were unable to provide comment on the matter.
