Welties actor bags a lead role in new M-Net series

The talented Gabrielle has proven once again that she is second to none when it comes to the performing arts as she will playing young Reyka alongside Iain Glen from Game of Thrones.

Fourteen-year-old singer, actress, model and dancer Gabrielle De Gama, who recently released her debut single, bagged a lead role in the new M-Net series Reyka which starts on July 25.

The talented Gabrielle has proven once again that she is second to none when it comes to the performing arts, as she plays the role of the young Reyka alongside Iain Glen from Game of Thrones.

According to Gabrielle, young Reyka is a very complex character who gets kidnapped and develops Stockholm syndrome, which affects her later in life.

“It’s July and that means it’s 24 days to the airing of Reyka on M-Net on DStv channel 101 at 20:00. I am super excited for Reyka to be released and to see myself on TV,” said Gabrielle.

Reyka follows a flawed but brilliant criminal profiler, Reyka Gama (Kim Engelbrecht) who is haunted by her past as she investigates a string of brutal murders committed by a serial killer in the sugar cane fields of KwaZulu-Natal.

Having been abducted as a child by a farmer named Speelman (Iain Glen), Reyka is traumatised by the experience, but this also helps.

This year’s Monte-Carlo Television Festival, which marks its 60th anniversary, will feature the worldwide premiere of Reyka.

Gabrielle has released her first music video of her debut song Nasty, and also released her debut single to critical acclaim.

She has caught the attention of industry heavyweights, magazine editors and radio show hosts, rising from anonymity to stardom in mere seconds.

Her song Nasty has provided a soundtrack for a very difficult time in history; not only is the track lighting up the airwaves but it tells an important story.
