WSNBG to remain open under level 4

Members of the public are advised that the restaurant will be closed for the duration of the lockdown period.

Following the new regulations for adjusted alert level 4 lockdown being announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday, June 27, Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden (WSNBG) management has taken the decision to remain open.

According to a statement released by the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), strict Covid-19 protocols are in place.

The Garden will remain open with the following protocols:

• No gatherings/ events/ groups

• No picnics

• Visitor numbers are limited to 2 000 persons over the course of the day

• The consumption of liquor is prohibited

Members of the public are advised that the restaurant will be closed for the duration of the lockdown period.

The bird hide will remain open but will be limited to two persons per bench, while visitors are urged to be considerate of others wishing to use the hide, and limit the amount of time spent.

The community is advised to bring their own sanitizer to clean surfaces before and after use.

SANBI wishes to remind visitors that masks are mandatory in public; not wearing a mask constitutes an offence and you may be liable for a fine and/ or imprisonment if convicted.
