Applications open for Ward 71 CLOs

Joburg Water is looking for four suitable candidates from Ward 71 to fill the available CLO positions on the Witpoortjie Sewer Pipe Replacement Project.

Johannesburg Water is inviting suitable candidates from Ward 70 to apply for one of the four community liaison officer (CLO) positions in the upcoming Witpoortjie Sewer Pipe Replacement Project.

“The primary role of the CLO is to ensure that the local community derives maximum benefit from this project by providing relevant labour to the project,” read the job advertisement.

Key performance areas where a CLO for this project should excel:
• Facilitate communication between stakeholders such as Joburg Water, the community, the main contractor, and the labourers employed on the project
• Identify and facilitate available local resources
• Compile and continuously update the database of local resources
• Keep the contractor and Joburg Water aware of community affairs and dynamics
• Assist the contractor’s supervisory staff in managing workers
• Keep the local ward councillor, René Benjamin, updated on the project as and when requested

A successful candidate should meet all of the following requirements:
• Must be able to communicate, read and write in English and local languages
• Must have a matric qualification
• Must be reliable and accountable
• Must be a resident of Ward 71 (Witpoortjie, Princess, Lindhaven, Grobler Park, Davidsonville). This is non-negotiable. Proof of residence is needed and will be verified
• Must be currently unemployed
• Must not have been employed as a CLO for the City of Johannesburg within the past six months
• Should be prepared to work under difficult conditions
• Should have skills in conflict management

Applicants must submit their CVs with proof of residence, a certified copy of their ID and a certified copy of their matric certificate and the relevant reference number for the position. The reference number that should be quoted in applications is JW14205/6/7/8. Applications can be dropped off at the Roodepoort Civic Centre, 100 Christiaan de Wet Road, Florida Park.
