Princess Clinic ready for vaccine registrations

Three clinics in the Region C area ready to begin registering residents 60 years and older for the Covid-19 vaccine

Several clinics in the West Rand District are ready to register residents in the community for the Covid-19 vaccine. Princess Clinic is one such facility that is ready to begin registering residents 60 years and older. The second phase of the vaccination process is expected to kick off in mid-May and will solely focus on senior citizens.

Manager of the Region C clinics, Rose Legwale said the challenge with some facilities has been the lack of network or Wi-Fi connections. “Registrations are open in three clinics; the Siphumlile Clinic, Princess Clinic and the Sol Plaatje Clinic have already started registering people during the week. Registrations are open from 8am to 1pm, depending on the queue and number of people that are there,” she explained. People interested in registering for the vaccine need to only have their South African ID with them. Legwale said they are still facing a challenge with undocumented people, but discussions were currently ongoing to resolve the matter.

More than 320 000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine are expected to arrive in the country this week, followed by weekly deliveries. Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize said doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are set to be released from the Aspen Pharmaceutical plant in Gqeberha sometime this month.
