The owner of the Audi was thrown out of the vehicle and the hijackers drove off in it. His alleged accomplices in a black Audi A4 also sped off.

The hijacked silver Audi was fitted with a car-tracking system and was activated from the Cartrack control room.

Cartrack Recovery Manager confirmed that the vehicle had been activated but at that moment no signal was received.

At about 9.30pm a member of the BCI QRF Unit received information about the location of the hijacked Audi and it was given through to the Reaction Manager.

The coordinates of the hijacked vehicle were followed to the Krugersdorp area which turned out to be the Heritage Square shopping centre.

Accompanied by a police vehicle, they found members from Cartrack and Dowry Security on scene and the vehicle had already been recovered.
