When little children start losing their teeth, we tell them to put the tooth under their pillows because at night, a magical fairy will come and leave them money in exchange for their recently lost tooth. The folklore we were told as children about the Tooth Fairy is one that brought some delight to the pain and discomfort we went through when one of our teeth came out.
Whether it’s the Tooth Fairy or another made-up figure parents use to explain what happens to their children’s teeth, children still seem to be falling for it tooth, line and sinker.
