Wilgeheuwel beauty a Mrs SA 2021 semi-finalist

The 28-year-old Mbali Misimeki from Wilgeheuwel has proved that beauty and brains are the perfect combination to secure a place as a semi-finalist in the Mrs South Africa 2021 pageant.

Mrs South Africa has evolved from being just a pageant to a female-empowerment movement and a vehicle that showcases the virtues of real, relatable African women, which is something Mbali is passionate about.

Mrs South Africa (Pty) Ltd is a Pageant and Female Empowerment programme for married women in South Africa. It is not a beauty pageant in the traditional sense of the word.

The pageant is about giving South Africa’s unsung superwomen a chance to get support and give input, and a platform to reach a new level of success and visibility on a global stage.

Mbali is a SACSSP-registered social worker with over six years’ experience in providing comprehensive psychosocial services in the public and private sector.

According to Mbali, practicing as a Probation Officer equipped her with legislative practices such as, but not limited to, the implementation of the Children’s Act, Criminal Procedure Act, and the Child Justice Act to work with adult and minor law offenders.

When asked by the Northsider to share a word of inspiration for her community, Mbali did not hesitate to point out that life challenges present an opportunity to narrate our own paths, and all have a role to play in transforming lives and communities.

“You need to realise that no one is perfect, and our lives would not be meaningful without challenges.

“During our struggles, we learn to appreciate everything about ourselves, and that is when we discover our resilience and life purpose as individuals and as a community.

“As life progresses, many individuals encounter challenges that are overwhelming and seem impossible to overcome. Be encouraged as every challenge presents an opportunity for growth and development,” said Mbali.

She envisions Roodepoort being transformed through youth development, poverty alleviation, social cohesion in addressing issues pertaining to domestic violence, gender-based violence, crime, and substance abuse.

“I am grateful for being selected as one of the Mrs SA 2021 semi-finalists; it brings me great enthusiasm to be a step closer to being empowered; to empowering individuals and communities to rise,” explained Mbali.
