Charterhouse learners spearhead a phenomenal Easter egg collection

Johannesburg Mini-Councillors (JMC) Sarah Hutt and Melissa Collins displayed great enthusiasm and hard work that saw them collect just under 12 000 eggs.

Every year, just before Easter, it is seen as an act of generosity when appeals are made for marshmallow Easter eggs to be donated and then distributed to those children who would otherwise not have enjoyed the Easter tradition.

Charterhouse Schools in Radiokop encouraged their learners to participate in acts of generosity by making a contribution towards a phenomenal Easter egg collection.

Johannesburg Mini-Councillors (JMC) Sarah Hutt and Melissa Collins displayed great enthusiasm and hard work that saw them collect just under 12 000 eggs.

The special moment came on Thursday, 25 March when the various charities came to collect their eggs at the school.

The eggs are distributed to various charities including orphanages and old age homes. Previous collections totalled between 8 000 and 10 000 eggs.

“Our goal this year is to smash the 10k mark, and do so much better than the previous times,” said one of the JMC members, Sarah Hutt.

The JMC has been effecting change in the lives of the youth for over four decades, with a specific focus on Grade 7 learners. The leadership lessons they learn are invaluable to their future development.
