Two dead after bakkie rolls in Leratong

"A passenger had sustained critical injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance however was declared deceased shortly after."

Two people sadly lost their lives following a single-vehicle incident on Saturday afternoon, 26 March.

The pair was travelling in a white Nissan NP200 along Adcock Street heading towards Leratong Hospital when the accident occurred. As suggested by reports from the scene, the driver is said to have lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a rollover. “Sadly the driver of the bakkie was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene,” confirmed Netcare 911 Media Liaison, Shawn Herbst.

The passenger of the vehicle sustained critical injuries and was transported to hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to the injuries. The circumstances around the cause of the rollover are unknown but Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department were on scene, and the incident is under investigation.
