An author in our midst

The book is about Michael, an accounts executive from New York City who is devastated by the untimely death of his wife.

Weltevreden Park resident, Mervyn Nel’s debut novel, Theft from Delos, has been published by Europe Books UK recently.

Their Editorial Group has organised more than 10 000 book launches and is in the process of scheduling television times (in Europe) in which Mervyn’s novel will be mentioned.

The story of the spellbinding mystery thriller that plays out on the Greek islands of Mykonos, Naxos and Delos, unfolds in the present time but it is steeped in history, archaeology and mythology.

The book is about Michael, an accounts executive from New York City who is devastated by the untimely death of his wife.

His doctor recommends he takes a vacation, and he travels to Greece, the ideal location to translate a nineteenth-century diary written by a French archaeologist that he bought a few years prior at a book market in Paris.

Mervyn graduated from the University of Johannesburg with a National Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Psychology.

He has written multiple articles that have been published in mainstream magazines. After a long and fulfilling career as a Credit Evaluation Manager at a leading financial services organisation he left the corporate world to pursue his passion for writing.

When he is not writing, he can be found pottering around in his garden in Weltevreden Park.

Mervyn is currently working on his second novel, The Postojna Manuscript. The backdrops to his novels are inspired by his travels across the globe.

Mervyn says that he has received an overwhelmingly positive response from readers in South Africa during the launch of his novel in Europe.
