Male suspect arrested for kidnapping a toddler

The mother said her son had been taken from their home in Cosmo City by a known person.

Honeydew Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit has left no stone unturned in their mission to locate a kidnapped toddler in Cosmo City.

A relentless search led by Honeydew FCS detectives and other role players resulted in the rescue of the kidnapped two-year-old boy on Saturday, 6 March, two days after he was reported missing.

The mother said her son had been taken from their home in Cosmo City by a known person on Thursday, 4 March.

According to the police, the toddler was found unharmed and they facilitated his reunion with his mother.

A 36-year-old suspect was arrested in connection with the kidnapping. He appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 9 March, facing a charge of kidnapping.

Police have reminded members of the public that there is no waiting period to report a missing person.
