Sponsor or adopt a fur baby at the SPCA

The Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA relies heavily on donations and support from community members, and they need help now more than ever.

Funding is a huge issue for many businesses and organisations, but for organisations that rely on community support, the need for funding is more prevalent than ever. The Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA relies heavily on donations and support from community members, and they are pleading for help from anyone who is willing.

This SPCA takes in stray, surrendered, and confiscated animals from both Roodepoort and Krugersdorp, and with the number of animals in their care increasing they need more help from generous community members. If you are an animal person and would love to help as many of these innocent souls as you can, but cannot adopt, there is still a way you can help.

The local rescue agency is asking community members to sponsor R200 a month towards the care of the animals and upkeep of their kennels, which until they find their forever families, are their homes. If you are able to donate, a plaque will be made and placed on the local SPCA’s ‘Wall of Memories,’ to show their everlasting gratitude to donors.

If you are able to adopt a furry friend, then the SPCA will most likely have the perfect dog or cat for you. Visits to the SPCA are by appointment only while the coronavirus pandemic is still a risk. To make an appointment, contact the SPCA during office hours on 011 672 0448 and arrange a time with the friendly staff. Photos of all the cats and dogs available for adoption are on the SPCA’s Facebook page (SPCA Roodepoort Krugersdorp).

This energetic husky may be a stray, but he will be the perfect addition to any home.

In order to adopt, you need to go to the SPCA (by appointment) to meet the dog or cat you would like to adopt and then complete an application form. Thereafter, a home check and compatibility test (if you have other dogs) will be conducted. If you are approved, your new family member can go home after having been sterilised, vaccinated, micro-chopped and de-wormed, which are all included in the adoption fee of R700 for adult dogs, R900 for puppies, R500 for adult cats, and R650 for kittens.

You will need to bring your ID and proof of residence when applying. R100 deposit is payable when applying, which is deducted from the adoption fee.
