Severe weather warnings, slippery roads and a curfew were no deterrent for some motorists determined to reach their destination.
A male driver of a yellow Renault Clio lost control on a relatively straight strip of Progress Road on the evening of 28 January, knocking through several panels of a residential precast wall. The exact time of the accident is unknown, but authorities attended to the scene at roughly 10pm in the vicinity of Elm Street. No other vehicles or persons were involved in the accident.
First responders claim that the man suffered minor injuries but was reluctant to receive any medical treatment. His vehicle suffered major damage, and remained parked in the hole it had created until the morning, in full view of daily commuters.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department were on scene and the incident is under investigation.
