Pedestrian struck by motor vehicle in Floracliffe suffers critical injuries

The late afternoon traffic rush on Tuesday, 15 December tragically saw an unsuspecting pedestrian being struck by a light motor vehicle on Ontdekkers Road in Floracliffe.

The 45-year-old man was found lying in the middle of the road when ER24 paramedics and Life Healthcare arrived on scene and the driver of the silver Hyundai was parked on the side of the road waiting for assistance.

Upon assessment, medics found that the pedestrian had sustained several serious injuries and was in a critical condition. The paramedics treated the injuries they could and implemented advanced life support measures before transporting the man to Charlotte Maxeke General Hospital for further care.

Thankfully, the driver of the Hyundai was uninjured, but there has been no update as to the condition of the pedestrian.

According to ER24 Communications Officer, Russel Meiring, local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
