Albertina Sisulu Road repairs complete, reopening imminent

“Thank you for your patience and understanding during this repair process”

The stress and congestion for residents in the streets surrounding the Albertina Sisulu Road closure is almost at an end.

In record time and against the tide of naysayers, Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) have completed work by their self imposed mid-December deadline. Since the initial road collapse 11 weeks ago, residents had been hounding JRA in an attempt to resolve the matter. By mid November, the project had not begun but miraculously JRA have outdone themselves to ensure reopening by 18 December, at the latest.

The road could be opened as early as the afternoon of 17 December, but motorists are urged to still drive carefully. Ward 70 councillor, Caleb Finn proudly announced the reopening, saying, “JRA is busy with road markings and the section of road that was affected is scheduled to be re-opened later today. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this repair process”.
