The sunny skies and open fields of Hoërskool Florida hosted the first-ever market day for Iba-Umngani NPO on Saturday, 12 December.
Iba-Umngani is a foundation for abused and abandoned children, and they wanted to lend a hand to businesses struggling with the economic effects of the state-imposed lockdown. The market featured various food stalls, children’s entertainment, clothing stalls, books and hand-made crafts. The school’s fields were packed with attendees looking to grab last-minute gifts from vendors looking to make some festive season cash.
Cynthia Armstrong from Iba-Umngani said, “With businesses closed, there was no support for the children. A big thank you to everyone who came out to support.”
The NPO hopes to make the market a regular occasion in 2021.
