Police probe fatal midnight shooting

According to reports, the motive behind the shooting was armed robbery-related.

Honeydew Police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan has confirmed an investigation into last night’s shooting when a group of men were attacked at a construction site in Roodepoort.

Muthan confirmed that the incident took place before midnight at a site on Hendrik Potgieter Road where eight attackers travelling in a bakkie entered the site and opened fire – fatally wounding one person and causing critical injuries to two others.

According to a post by BCI Security, whose officers were on scene, the injured victims were treated at the scene and transported by a Netcare 911 ambulance to Leratong Hospital.

No arrests have been reported thus far.
