Help the Ogle Foundation feed the hungry on Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, the non profit organisation (NPO) will be feeding approximately 300 people who are unemployed, homeless, or have been retrenched during the year and cannot afford a warm, Christmas meal.

The Christmas season is the time of year when people are most likely to break every healthy eating habit they have, unable to turn down the delicious food that comes with the festive season.

This year, while you spend time with your loved ones and enjoy your family recipes, the Ogle Foundation is asking you to spare something small for their feeding initiative.

On Christmas Eve, the non-profit organisation (NPO) will be feeding approximately 300 people who are unemployed, homeless, or have been retrenched during the year and cannot afford a warm, Christmas meal.

The foundation is collecting any food that the public is willing to give and will make meals with what is donated. If you are willing to help and can donate, the best food items to donate are the following:

• Any non-perishable foods (Canned foods, rice, mielie pap, etc)
• Fruits and vegetables
• Tomato sauce, mustard and vinegar
• Viennas
• Dairy products
• Soft drinks or juice
• Any meat
• Rolls
• Butter

The foundation is also in urgent need of male clothing. A lot of the men whom they feed come to them in very little clothes or clothes that are full of holes. The foundation will also be collecting clothes and sanitary towels for the women they help.

If you are willing to help, collection of any donations can be arranged in and around the greater Roodepoort area, or alternatively, donations can be dropped off at 30 Ontdekkers Road, on the corner of Corlett Avenue.

The founder of the organisation, Patty Ogle, would like to extend her deepest gratitude to everyone who has helped in the past and to those who plan to help now.

If you would like to volunteer for the foundation or can donate any food, clothing, sanitary towels, or sewing equipment for their skills development programme, please contact Patty on 076 313 224 or visit www.oglefoundationsa.org to find out more about the organisation.
