Infamous escapee wanted for jewellery store robberies

It has come to light that of one of three men, Faith Ncube managed to escape custody.

Remember the brazen gang of jewellery store robbers who terrorised Brown’s Jewellers in both Clearwater and Cradlestone Malls in 2018?
Surely those traumatic memories have not disappeared completely as that gang of five to eight men stopped at nothing to get what they wanted – disregarding the safety of the patrons during their attacks.

The two neighbouring malls were attacked in a space of two weeks in July of 2018. In most instances, smoke detectors were activated, releasing thick smoke to blur the vision of the robbers.

A post by Special Operations Group promoting the R50 000 reward for Ncube’s successful arrest read: “Faith Ncube is wanted for serious crimes across SA which are related to armed robberies of high-end jewellery stores mainly in the Gauteng region, but has been active in other provinces too. He also escaped from lawful custody while being transported by police. He is also wanted for other crime-related charges. We have received intel that he recently fled from Zimbabwe to SA and is wanted for murder in Zimbabwe.”

The post also cautioned that anyone who comes across him should contact the police as he is very aggressive and dangerous, and likely to be armed.

Questions relating to Ncube’s escape while under police guard and information pertaining to the case have been forwarded to Muldersdrift Police. However, the station had not responded before we published the story.

This is a developing story.
