WATCH: Illegal dumpers caught in the act

“There really is no excuse to dump illegally. This is appalling behaviour by people with zero self-respect or respect for others,” she criticised.

A fed-up Ward 89 councillor Amelia Bester is taking a serious stance against illegal dumping and wants the community to be part of the solution.

She posted a video of individuals that were caught in the act of dumping refuse illegally on 27 November and subsequently were reported by community members.

She said the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) was contacted and the offenders had to pay a hefty fine.

“There really is no excuse to dump illegally. This is appalling behaviour by people with zero self-respect or respect for others,” she criticised.

She went on to encourage residents to contact Zed Mangaliso on 082 779 136 if they witness illegal dumping, and be sure to get the vehicle registration number as well.

“If you live in our area your bin gets serviced at least twice a month. You also have access to the Panorama Recycling Hub and the hub at the Hillfox Centre,” she encouraged.
