A whopping R5 000 Hirsch’s voucher is up for grabs on 14 November for a lucky Taste Bud Battle finalist.

The Taste Bud Battle semi-finals, in partnership with Capsicum Cooking School and Hirsch’s Homestore, was hosted this past weekend at Cresta and Menlyn Shopping Centres in Gauteng.

Taste Bud Battle is a cooking competition for young, aspiring chefs and bakers. It is an interactive experience, filled with fun, learning and a chance to become a culinary superstar.

Children who entered uploaded their recipe, photos of their dish and an optional video.

After that, judges chose their top contestants to move on to the semi-finals.

Children from all ages competed, showcasing their masterpiece dishes.

Following this, the judges tasted the food and chose the finalists.

“It was amazing to see the amount of talent among the children who entered the competition. Their passion for baking and cooking really came through. The theme was ‘Fruity Fun’ and some of the contestants really took it all the way with their innovation and taste,” said Hirsch’s Megan Fraser.

The contestants had their friends, families and the Hirsch’s PR team cheering them on while they cooked. The team also handed out some Hirsch’s goodies to keep the spectators and parents busy.

“The lucky contestants who passed the semi-finals will be joining the Taste Bud Battle team on 14 November at Capsicum in Rosebank for the finals. They will be competing in a mystery box challenge and stand a chance to win some amazing prizes, including an R5 000 Hirsch’s voucher,” Megan explained.
