More illegal alcohol traders shut down

Alcohol to the total value of R11 491 was confiscated at two establishments and the owners were arrested.

Honeydew Police seem to be winning the battle to eradicate the illegal sale of alcohol within the policing precinct.

This after the officers at the station managed to shut down two other establishments in the area for illegally trading in alcohol.

Alcohol to the total value of R11 491 was confiscated at two establishments and the owners were arrested.

According to Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan, at the first establishment, the confiscated liquor amounted to R1 920 while the other’s confiscated stock amounted to a whopping R9 571.

The illegal sale of alcohol became a major problem during the early days of the lockdown when alcohol sales were prohibited, resulting in a huge setback to the industry and its outlets.

This is a developing story.
