Over 40 arrested for various crimes

Muthan highlighted that such crime-prevention operations are ongoing, especially raiding and shutting down illegal shebeens.

Between 14 and 18 September Honeydew Police officers brought 47 suspects to book for various crimes.

Spokesperson for the station, Captain Balan Muthan indicated that the suspects were arrested within the borders of the policing precinct.

The arrests range from house robbery and housebreaking; common robbery; hijacking; possession of a stolen motor vehicle or stolen motor vehicle parts; dealing in liquor without a licence; assault; and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).

Muthan highlighted that such crime-prevention operations are ongoing, especially raiding and shutting down illegal shebeens.

“All operations are driven in accordance with crime trends and patterns,” he said, also assuring that the Echo Squad and reaction groups are still performing at a very high standard to reduce crime in the area.

He further mentioned that detectives are performing outstandingly to secure good convictions in court.
