WATCH: Who was to blame, dog or motorcyclist?

'It is recommended that residents do not let their dogs run into the street but at the same time, motorists are urged to always obey the speed limit.'

Velocity, canines, CCTV footage and WhatsApp users have collided in a classic chicken-or-the-egg conundrum.

On a quiet residential street in Witpoortjie, an enthusiastic dog caused an unsuspecting motorcyclist to lose control and crash his two-wheeled treasure.

Watch here:

Footage shows the dog approaching the street which startles the rider, followed by man and machine tumbling down the street.

Amateur kineticists and professional YouTube viewers would notice that the motorbike in question came to rest roughly 60 metres after meeting the tarmac, suggesting that the motorcycle may have been travelling at an excessive speed. That said, would the rider simply have completed his journey should the dog not have been present?

Concerned residents have highlighted the need for both sides of the argument to be heard.

“It is recommended that residents do not let their dogs run into the street but at the same time, motorists are urged to always obey the speed limit,” stated one prominent resident.

Footage from the Moller Street incident sees the rider thankfully pulling himself up from the road, but with some discomfort. The dog, however, escaped unharmed.
