EuroMillions Super draw with R2.5 billion jackpot is coming in September

The EuroMillions Superdraw is one of the most exciting lottery draws that take place in Europe.

These draws are conducted two to three times per year, making it even more thrilling. The Superdraws are also known as Super Jackpots in the UK and Megadraws in Ireland. The EuroMillions Superdraw guarantees a massive jackpot of approximately R2.5 billion for the next upcoming draw in September. Superdraws operate under the exact same rules as the regular draws with the only difference being the size of the guaranteed jackpot. If there is no jackpot winner the top prize rolls over to the following draw and will continue to roll over until the jackpot cap of €200 million (approx. R3,963,118,000) is reached.

When is the next EuroMillions Superdraw?

The next Superdraw of the EuroMillions draws will take place on Friday the 25th of September 2020 with a minimum guaranteed jackpot of €130 million (approx. R2,579,936,802). This is the third Superdraw to take place so far this year. The number of draws will increase each year as part of the big changes that were implemented in Euromillions in February 2020. Over the course of EuroMillions history, there have been two Superdraws a year on average but after the recent changes, the Superdraw is expected to increase to three times per year. These changes were confirmed as the next draw will happen on the 25th of September. The first EuroMillions Superdraw this year was held on the 7th of February and had one lucky ticket holder in Spain that won the entire amount on that night. This was the first Superdraw in three years not to roll over to the following draw.

History of the EuroMillions Superdraw

The first Superdraw took place on 6 March 2009, and the last one was held on the 3rd of July 2020. This means that a total of 24 EuroMillions Superdraws took place so far. The first draw had a starting top prize of €100 million (approx. R1,981,559,000). The maximum amount of times that the jackpot has rolled over was a total of 5 times until it was finally won on the 7th of June 2013. Before the year 2013 when the jackpot reached the maximum rollovers, the winner never came forward to collect his amount of £63 million and the unclaimed amount was given away to charity. On the 3rd of July the second EuroMillion Superdraw this year was held. The jackpot rolled over and in the following draw, a ticket holder from Valladolid in Spain took home a prize worth €144 million (approx. R2,853,405,842). The Superdraw has always been very popular and offers an extremely high guaranteed jackpot. After the big changes made, these draws happen three times a year and will offer a guaranteed jackpot of €130 million (approx. R2,579,936,802) for the next draw happening on the 25th of September 2020.
