DA Joburg leader commends BCI Security after vehicle recovery

DA Joburg Caucus leader and Ward 97 councillor, Leah Knott has hailed the services of BCI Security that acted swiftly and managed to help recover her stolen vehicle at a local shopping on Sunday, 16 August.

“A shout out to an amazing security company that goes above and beyond – BCI Security. We were out to get a few things this morning and our car was stolen out of the parking lot at Retail Crossing,” Leah said in a Facebook post.

“The security staff at the centre saw nothing, the management couldn’t help so I called Corinda Loots at BCI to moan a bit. They rushed over and helped track the vehicle which, despite being stripped, was recovered within the hour,” she explained.

“She phoned in the morning to say she couldn’t believe that her vehicle was gone. I asked what she meant and she said the vehicle had been stolen from the centre,” she recalled.

Corinda told Northsider that she and her husband Johnny rushed to the scene and started asking the car guards and security questions. “The car guards said they saw the car but didn’t see anyone drive out in it,” she explained.

She added that she phoned the BCI Control Room, which alerted the police and the tracking company to locate the vehicle. “The vehicle was located and recovered in Munsieville in Krugersdorp; however, without the belongings in the vehicle,” she said.

Corinda went on to urge shopping centres to be more careful. “Shopping centres need to be extra careful whom they place as car guards. Car guards are not just there for loose change, but to be the eyes of the car owner at the shopping centre,” she said.

Leah concluded by saying that although the incident was highly frustrating, “… it seriously helps when there are people out there who care and actually take action, so it lessens the blow a bit”.
