Two injured in Maraisburg accident

Paramedics responded to reports of a collision between a light motor vehicle and a truck at 7.25am.

Two people sustained moderate injuries in an accident on the N1 North, just past the Maraisburg bridge today, 17 July.

Shawn Herbst, Netcare 911 Media Liaison Officer said, “Paramedics responded to reports of a collision between a light motor vehicle and a truck at 7.25am. They assessed the scene and found that two occupants of the car had sustained moderate injuries and were treated on scene by Advanced Life Support paramedics. Once stabilised both patients were transported to hospital by private ambulance for further treatment.”

Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24, added, “ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene finding the truck parked on the side of the highway. The light motor vehicle was found partially crushed beneath the trailer of the truck. Medics assessed the two patients, a man and woman in their 30s, and found that they had sustained several injuries, leaving them in a serious condition. After providing pain relief medication, they were transported to hospital”.

The cause of the accident is not known yet, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
