Animal food drives resumed despite lockdown challenges

On 30 May Feed the Furry was able to resume its food drives for needy animal shelters, and were fortunate enough to get two food drives done in two weeks.

“We started off at FORA (Friends of Rescued Animals) on 30 May, where I got to see my favourite Daisy again and dropped off a good 200kg of food for them,” said founder of Feed the Furry, Celeste Vermeulen.FORA takes care of over 500 animals and need all the help they can get. They have many pets up for adoption, including puppies.

Members of the community looking for a furry companion are encouraged to visit FORA and adopt.

On 6 June Feed the Furry was at is again when they held a food drive to Happy Yappers Animal Sanctuary. “We made a road trip of it to take a rescued CLAWbie to his new temporary home where he will learn to trust humans.

“Thank you to Janet and Jean for the tour and telling us all about your amazing shelter. They also have a whole lot of sweet dogs and puppies available for adoption, so if you are in the Magaliesburg area, please visit them and meet their cool canine buddies,” said Celeste.

Feed the Furry also teamed up with Darkside Gaming South Africa, Synergetix and Zooks Gaming on Saturday, 27 June for a charity gaming stream event to raise funds for CLAW (Community Led Animal Welfare).

“The event was a success and funds were raised for animal friends in shelters across South Africa.”Funding will go towards food, blankets and pretty much anything they need. Thank you to everyone who has made this possible,” concluded Celeste.
