Three injured in Newlands accident

ER24 paramedics, along with the City of Johannesburg EMS, arrived on scene at 5.37pm.

Three people were injured last night, 21 June when two light motor vehicles collided at the Main Road and Plateau Drive intersection in Newlands.

Russel Meiring, the ER24 spokesperson said, “ER24 paramedics, along with the City of Johannesburg EMS, arrived on scene at 5.37pm to find one vehicle on the centre median while the second vehicle was parked on the side of the road.

Medics found a woman, believed to be in her 40s, lying trapped inside her vehicle. ER24 and City of Johannesburg Rescue had to use specialised equipment to free her.” He said that once the woman had been freed, the paramedics assessed her and the other two victims.

“She had sustained numerous injuries and was in a serious condition while the other two victims sustained only minor to moderate injuries.

They were treated for their injuries and the seriously injured woman was given pain-relief medication before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care,” said Meiring.The cause of the accident is unknown, but local authorities were on scene for further investigation.
