No time of restoration for Fleurhof outage yet

The outage was due to the Pennyville Substation having tripped yesterday afternoon, 18 June.

The power outage affecting large areas of Florida and Fleurhof is being attended to by City Power technicians; however, no time of restoration has been given as yet.

The outage was due to the Pennyville Substation having tripped yesterday afternoon, 18 June.

Ward 70 councillor Caleb Finn said that technicians’ initial attempt to restore power had failed.

“Technicians suspected that there was a fault along the supply line between Pennyville and Fleurhof, and needed to inspect the line. Unfortunately access to the supply line is limited, and at night it is difficult to inspect it due to the poor lighting and potential danger to the technicians.”

He confirmed that City Power technicians inspected the line this morning, 19 June and found the cause of the power outage to be a break in the overhead supply cables.

He said, “The supply cable has broken at the point where it crosses the river in Pennyville. This area is not accessible by vehicle, and this will unfortunately slow down repairs.

A contractor has been appointed to carry out repairs, but at this stage City Power is not able to give me an estimated time of restoration (ETR).”
