Florida residents still affected by the power outage after a 33kV oil feeder cable was damaged by a Rand Water contractor who was excavating in the area, should have power by tonight, 5 June.
The affected areas are Lea Glen, Stormill, Fleurhof and Rand Water Pump Station.
In a statement released by City Power, their technicians and contractors were working around the clock to repair the damaged cables. Residents were assured that the entity would attempt to restore supply to these areas by Friday evening, 5 June.
The statement explained, “The repair process is still on track and the first feeder cable joints have been completed during the night. Oil work procedures will commence this morning.
Thereafter several testing procedures have to be done on the cable. We will keep customers updated.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
