Update: Florida outage repairs still on track

'The repair process is still on track and the special joint chambers have been prepared.'

City Power has sent out a statement, assuring Florida residents that technicians and contractors are working around the clock to repair the 33kV oil feeder cables that were damaged by a Rand Water contractor during excavations yesterday, 3 June.

Although most of the areas affected by the outage have been restored, the following areas will be off until repairs are completed:

• Lea Glen

• Stormill

• Fleurhof

• Rand Water Pump Station

The entity said that these areas could unfortunately not be supplied with generators.

The statement did, however, share some good news as well. “The repair process is still on track and the special joint chambers have been prepared. Material has been issued and the contractors are currently doing the oil work. Jointing will commence this afternoon, 4 June.”

City Power promised to keep customers updated on the progress of the repairs, and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
