Two men were left seriously injured on the morning of 2 June following a shooting incident on the N1 highway near the Maraisburg offramp in Maraisburg.
Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said, “ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene with the local authorities at approximately 5.42am where they found a vehicle in the middle of the highway. One man had numerous, serious injuries while a second man was found further up near the off-ramp. Medics assessed the men and found that they had sustained numerous injuries and were in a serious condition. They were treated for their injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before they were transported to a nearby hospital for further care.”
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
Unconfirmed reports state that the shooting incident was the result of a courier-vehicle robbery, and that the escort driver was also shot at.
The robbers fled the scene and are still at large.
