Lions continue to feed the hungry

To date, 302 family food hampers have been delivered, feeding 1 112 people.

Since the launch of the Lions Club of Wilro Park’s Project 36 in April, 302 families have received food hampers, with the initiative showing no signs of slowing down.

The project was started to coincide with the Club’s 36th birthday. “One of the Lions’ pillars of service is hunger, and because of the nationwide lockdown, a need for food has become a big problem.

That is why we decided to launch Project 36, where we ask the community to donate only R36, which we use towards food parcels for the needy,” explained project conveners, Pieter and Niquila Kruger.

They added that the response has been amazing and support was received from far and wide. “The initiative is growing weekly and we have been receiving assistance from friends, family, fellow Lions members, local businesses as well as donors from Australia to Dubai and back again.”

Giving is not just about making a donation – it’s about making a difference and we are very grateful for each and every donation we received because it made a difference!” they said.

Niquila assured the community that masks were used at all times, hand sanitizers were readily available and constantly used, and social distancing was observed.
